Ballmer -- Innovation, not Size, is Key to Microsoft Success
Speaking at the annual Institute of Directors’ conference at the Royal Albert Hall in London today, Ballmer said Microsoft’s dominance is based not on any abuse of its market position but purely on producing compelling products that consumers and businesses want to buy. Innovation is Key “Our size will not be our saviour. It will be our ability to do things that are compelling.”
Scott McNealy's Best Microsoft Jabs
"Microsoft is now talking about the digital nervous system. I guess I would be nervous if my system was built on their technology, too.” took first place in Silcon’s Roundup. Best Jabs “He famously suggested that Gates was “probably the most dangerous and powerful industrialist of our age”. Referring to Microsoft as “the beast from Redmond” or the “Evil Empire” and its CEO and chairman/chief software architect combo as “Ballmer and Butt-head”, McNealy was scathing over what he perceived as the lack of innovation and quality in the Redmond company’s products.” McNealy’s comments may have been counterproductive. After a BAI address where he spent a lot of time attacking Microsoft I heard one banker say he’d have preferred hearing what Sun could do rather than listen to Microsoft bashing. But McNealy has been amusing in his commentary on the IT industry. His replacement as CEO, Jonathan Schwartz, offers a tribute to McNealy on his blog. Schwartz blog
